Clarence Sinclair Bull was an American portrait photographer active in Hollywood's golden age. Working primarily in platinum and gelatin silver print, he developed a distinctive soft-focus technique that became the standard for studio portraiture of major film stars between the 1920s and 1960s. His photographs defined the visual language of Hollywood glamour, employing controlled lighting and subtle retouching to achieve an idealized yet psychologically engaged likeness.
