Karl Struss was an American photographer and cinematographer active from the early 1900s through the 1970s. Working across both still photography and motion picture photography, he developed distinctive soft-focus and pictorialist techniques that influenced early cinema aesthetics. His career spanned the emergence of narrative film, and he contributed to the visual language of silent and early sound cinema.
