Photography
Heinrich Kühn was an Austrian photographer and pioneering advocate for photography as fine art in the early twentieth century. Working primarily in platinum and gum bichromate processes, he created soft-focus landscapes and portraits that emphasized tonal subtlety and atmospheric effect over documentary clarity. His technical innovations and theoretical writings established photography as a legitimate artistic medium during a period when the medium was still contested as mere mechanical reproduction.
