Working primarily in lithography and poster design, he became known for his satirical and political imagery that engaged with contemporary social movements. His work appeared in influential publications including the journal L'Assiette au Beurre, where his incisive line work and compositional clarity served the demands of political commentary. Ibels' prints combined decorative Art Nouveau sensibilities with a sharp editorial sensibility.
