Brief aan Philip Zilcken

Henri Rouart was a French painter and collector active in the late nineteenth century. Working primarily in oil and watercolor, he depicted landscapes and industrial scenes with particular attention to atmospheric effects and light. A founding member of the Impressionist circle, Rouart exhibited alongside Monet, Renoir, and Degas, though his practice remained more rooted in naturalistic observation than radical formal experiment. He assembled one of the era's most significant private collections of modern art.
