Giacomo Caneva was an Italian photographer and daguerreotypist active in Rome during the mid-nineteenth century. Pioneer of early photographic documentation in Italy, he produced daguerreotypes and albumen prints that recorded archaeological sites, urban landscapes, and portraits with technical precision. His work coincided with Rome's transformation under papal administration and represents an important early archive of the city's monuments and streets.
