John Claude White
John Claude White was a British photographer and explorer active in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Working primarily in the Himalayan region, particularly Bhutan and Sikkim, he created extensive photographic documentation of landscapes, architecture, and indigenous cultures. His prints, executed in albumen and gelatin processes, represent early ethnographic and topographical photography of remote Asian territories. White's archives constitute a significant historical record of the region prior to major twentieth-century transformations.
