François Chéreau the Elder was a French engraver and printmaker active in the early eighteenth century. Working primarily in etching and engraving, he produced religious and historical compositions characteristic of the French academic tradition. Based in Paris, he contributed to the dissemination of contemporary artistic practice through reproductive prints.
