Marian plague column in Hradčany

Ferdinand Brokoff (1688, 1731) was a Bohemian sculptor whose monumental stone and marble works defined the Baroque aesthetic of Prague in the early eighteenth century. Working primarily in religious and commemorative sculpture, he created large-scale altar pieces and public monuments characterized by dramatic drapery, muscular figuration, and expressive gestures. His practice established a regional sculptural tradition that influenced Central European Baroque art.
