Frans Post was a Dutch Golden Age painter specializing in Brazilian landscapes during the mid-seventeenth century. He documented the colonial territories of northeast Brazil with topographical precision and luminous atmospheric effects, creating compositions that balanced documentary observation with romantic sensibility.
