Jan Wildens was a Flemish painter of landscapes and historical scenes active in Antwerp during the seventeenth century. His compositions employ atmospheric perspective and a structured recession into depth characteristic of Northern European landscape painting of the period. Wildens collaborated with Peter Paul Rubens on large-scale commissions, contributing landscape backgrounds to Rubens' figure-driven compositions.
