Ask a plain question — movements, influence, education, exhibitions, holdings, peers. Every answer carries its provenance.
Zacharias Blyhooft was a Dutch painter active in Middelburg from 1658 until his death in 1681. Little is documented of his training or early career, though his work was compared by contemporaries to that of Caspar Netscher, the prominent Dutch portrait and genre painter. His paintings appear in historical catalogues, and confusion between his manner and Netscher's work suggests a stylistic affinity with the refined domestic scenes and portraiture of the Dutch Golden Age.
