Thomas Struth produces large-format photographs of museum interiors, urban streets, and family groups that register the precise geometry of space and the psychology of looking. His early black-and-white street photographs of Düsseldorf and New York established his method of patient observation and formal rigor, which he later applied to museum galleries and multigenerational family portraits. Working between Berlin and New York, Struth transforms the everyday and institutional into images of sustained visual and emotional complexity. Represented by Marian Goodman.
