Shahzia Sikander is a Pakistani-American painter and visual artist who works across drawing, painting, printmaking, animation, installation, performance, and video. Her practice engages with South Asian visual traditions, particularly miniature painting, which she interrogates and fragments through contemporary formal strategies. Based in New York City, Sikander's work moves between historical reference and abstraction, dissolving the boundaries between traditional craft and conceptual intervention.
