Neri Oxman is an American architect and designer working at the intersection of computation, materials science, and biological form. Her practice centers on digital fabrication and algorithmic design, generating structures that mimic natural growth patterns and optimize material use across scales from furniture to architectural envelopes. She directs the Mediated Matter group at MIT, where her research explores silk-based composites, biomineralization, and the integration of living systems into built environments. Her work challenges the separation between design, engineering, and biology.
