Mohamed Melehi was a Moroccan painter and muralist whose work synthesized geometric abstraction with North African ornamental traditions. Active from the 1960s onward, he developed a distinctive visual language that bridged modernist painting and the decorative vocabularies of Moroccan architecture and craft. His large-scale murals and canvases employed bold color fields and interlocking patterns that referenced both Islamic geometric design and European abstract movements. Melehi's practice engaged painting as a vehicle for cultural dialogue in the postwar moment.
