Michel Parmentier was a French painter who used geometric abstraction and industrial materials to interrogate the formal properties of painting itself. His systematic investigations of color, line, and surface anticipated minimalism and process-based art practices that emerged in the following decades. Working across the postwar period until 2000, Parmentier developed a rigorous conceptual approach that treated the canvas as a site for formal experimentation rather than expression.
