Jon Rafman works across video, film, and digital installation to examine the psychological and existential weight of life lived through screens, networks, and algorithmic systems. His ongoing project 9-Eyes, begun in 2009, culls found images from Google Street View to construct an uncanny portrait of the world as mediated by machine vision. The work sits at the intersection of documentary and surrealism, where the accidental and the human surface within automated image capture. His practice has been presented at the Musée d'art contemporain de Montréal and the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam.
