George Grantham Bain was an American photographer who founded one of the first systematic news picture agencies in the early 20th century. He pioneered the distribution of photographic images to newspapers and periodicals, establishing an archive that documented prominent figures and events of the Progressive Era. His work established foundational practices for photojournalism and image syndication that remain in use today.
