Bern Porter was an American artist and experimental filmmaker who worked across assemblage, found-object sculpture, and avant-garde cinema from the 1940s onward. His practice merged the anarchic energy of Dada with a deep engagement in nuclear physics and atomic history, producing collages and constructions that incorporated radioactive materials, obsolete technological debris, and printed ephemera. Porter's work interrogated the relationship between scientific progress and cultural destruction in the postwar period, refusing conventional boundaries between art and documentation.
