Alvin Colt was an American costume and set designer whose work defined the visual vocabulary of Broadway productions and Hollywood musicals from the 1940s through the 1980s. Operating across theater and film, he established a distinctive approach to period authenticity and character through fabric and silhouette. His designs shaped postwar American musical theater during its most prolific decades.
