Alexander Cozens was a British landscape painter in watercolour who developed a method for generating imaginative landscape compositions from abstract blots on paper. Born in Saint Petersburg, he taught drawing and wrote treatises on artistic practice. His son, John Robert Cozens, also became a watercolourist.
