Working from 1923 until his death in 1959, Whorf developed a distinctive approach to the medium characterized by technical precision and atmospheric depth, particularly in maritime and landscape subjects. His work was exhibited at MoMA and remained consistent in its formal rigor throughout his career, establishing him as one of the most accomplished watercolorists of the mid-twentieth century.
