William Jewett was an American painter active in New York City during the nineteenth century. Working primarily in oil on canvas, he was associated with landscape and portrait painting traditions of the early American republic. His practice spanned the transition from Federal-era conventions toward the emerging Hudson River School aesthetic. Little documentary evidence survives regarding his exhibition history or institutional affiliations.
