Willie Doherty is an Irish artist working primarily in photography, video, and text-based installations that interrogate the representation of conflict and contested histories. His practice emerged in the 1980s, examining the visual and linguistic frameworks through which political violence is documented and understood. Working across still and moving image, Doherty constructs narratives that resist singular interpretation, often layering archival material with personal testimony and landscape photography. His work has been exhibited internationally and engages deeply with questions of perspective, witness, and the politics of the image itself.
