Norman Stevens was a British printmaker and painter who worked primarily in etching and stone lithography from the 1960s onward. His figurative and landscape subjects emerged from mid-twentieth-century British artistic concerns, rendered through the precise linear vocabulary of intaglio and the gestural possibilities of stone. Stevens brought a distinctly graphic sensibility to postwar printmaking, favoring the durability and legibility of the printed image over painterly surface.
