Peter Müller-Munk was an American industrial designer and metalsmith who shaped the aesthetic of American tableware and domestic objects in the mid-twentieth century. Emigrating from Germany in the 1920s, he established his studio in Pittsburgh, where he refined a modernist approach to functional silver and stainless steel design. His work balanced Bauhaus principles with American manufacturing constraints, producing iconic objects that prioritized clean lines and tactile refinement. Müller-Munk's influence extended through his teaching and mentorship of a generation of postwar American designers.
