Max Jiménez was a Costa Rican painter and sculptor working in oil and bronze during the interwar and immediate postwar periods. He engaged with modernist formal vocabularies while maintaining a distinctive engagement with Central American landscape and cultural subject matter. Active across the early-to-mid twentieth century, his practice bridged European modernism and regional specificity.
