Thomas Scheibitz works in painting and sculpture, building compositions that compress recognizable imagery, signage, and architectural motifs into flattened, densely layered surfaces. His pictorial logic carries directly into three-dimensional work, where wood, aluminium, and synthetic materials take on the same semi-abstract, sign-like quality as his painted forms. The result is a body of work that operates between legibility and abstraction, never fully resolving into either. Scheibitz represented Germany at the 2005 Venice Biennale alongside Tino Sehgal.
