Otobong Nkanga works across installation, performance, tapestry, and drawing to trace the geopolitics of natural resources, land exploitation, and bodily ecology. Soil, minerals, and plant extracts function in her work as both medium and subject, grounding abstract political histories in physical matter. Her practice has been presented at Tate Modern and the Venice Biennale. The convergence of material science and postcolonial land politics gives her installations an unusual density, where a handful of earth or a woven surface carries the weight of extraction economies.
