David Hartt makes installations, films, and photographs that trace how ideologies and historical narratives erode, mutate, or persist across time and built environments. His projects frequently engage specific sites charged with social or political memory, assembling archival material, original footage, and spatial design into layered documentary forms. Based in Philadelphia, he is also an educator whose pedagogical work runs parallel to the studio practice. The work resists straightforward historical illustration, instead staging encounters with the residue that ideas leave on physical space.
