Robert Nava creates large-scale paintings that merge prehistoric imagery, Egyptian symbolism, and cartoon aesthetics into metamorphic creatures rendered in spray paint, acrylics, and grease pencil. His hybrid forms inhabit a visual space between ancient visual cultures and contemporary pop vernacular, constructed through layered, gestural mark-making that emphasizes material immediacy. Working from East Chicago, Nava's paintings assert formal complexity and conceptual depth through a deliberately hybrid visual language that resists singular classification.
